Na początek proponuję wideo.
Te małe słówka pozwalają opisać położenie w czasie i przestrzeni. Niestety sprawiają wiele kłopotu uczącym się języka angielskiego ponieważ praktycznie niemożliwe jest jednoznaczne przetłumaczenie ich na język polski i w większości przypadków trzeba zapamiętać całe zwroty.
Jednakże spróbujmy przynajmniej częściowo uporządkować ich użycie.
Zacznijmy od wyrażeń przyimkowych opisujących położenie obiektów.
PRZYIMKI MIEJSCA
The boy is at the desk. – przy biurku
The notebooks are on the desk. – na biurku.
The pens are in the glass. – w szklance.
IN – wewnątrz, w obrębie granic
pojemniki, wyznaczone przestrzenie:
I’ve got the phone in my bag.Let’s have a swim in the lake.There is nothing left in the bottle.We are going to have a picnic in the park.
budynki, pomieszczenia:
Passengers need to wait for the plane in the departure lounge.I left your sandwiches in the kitchen.
regiony, miasta, państwa:
We are going for a weekend in the country.I love winter holidays in the mountains in France.He grew up in London.
grupy ludzi:
She is always in the design team.I would like to get selected to play in the first league team.

AT – w określonym miejscu/punkcie w przestrzeni:

na wydarzeniu/imprezie:
I met my boyfriend at a conference in Spain.You’ll never see her at a party.
IN, ON, AT z przestrzenią w regułkach:
AT – jednowymiarowe = 1D, płaskie, liniowe, określa linię lub pozycję obiektu na wyobrażonej mapie.
ON – dwuwymiarowe = 2D, określa pozycję obiektu względem płaskiej powierzchni.
IN – trójwymiarowe = 3D, określa czym obiekt jest otoczony ze wszystkich stron.
